The new SLX Hollowtech II Crankset for the Shimano 10-speed Dyna-Sys drivetrain system. The middle chainring is made of steel/composite for more durability. The large chainring is made of aluminium and the small one is made of steel. The integrated bottom bracket saves weight and increases stiffness.
More than 30 years 26 inch was the standard wheel size for mountain bikes. Components and accessories have been consistently developed and optimized for this wheel size. Recently, however, a lot has changed, new developments to ensure that the old standards and the demands on rider and equipment on the move. This is especially true on the introduction of the larger wheels with 27.5 and 29 inches. As the first manufacturer Shimano presents a specifically targeted at these larger wheel sizes 3x crankset with 40-30-22 theeth.
Thanks to 10-speed cassette and corresponding gradation of the chain rings the Shimano Dyna-Sys component technology makes a much closer gear ratios possible, resulting in smoother and easier gear changing leads and reduction of the chain tension. Chain elongation, chain friction and unnecessary switching surges are minimized. Due to the dynamic power transmission, a uniform and extremely efficient pedaling is possible.
Only for BSA bottom brackets with 68 or 73mm case width.
Only compatible with super narrow HG-X 10-speed chains.
